Bantwal, Feb 14: Bantwal education officer Shivaprakash urged not to hold Kabaddi or cricket tournaments in the taluk during March and April.
Speaking in taluk panchayat ordinary meeting on Feb 12, he said that final examinations for primary, high school and college students will be held from March till April 5. “Tournaments during the period will adversely affect their education,” he said. As all the members supported the move, president Chandrahas Karkera asked officials to implement it.
“Which department has the responsibility of distributing gas under Ujwala scheme?” asked some members. There were arguments between them as only a few of the members had a clear idea about it. Finally tahsildar Rashmi contacted district administration and said that department of food and civil supplies should supervise it as this is the scheme of the centre. Executive officer Rajanna said that beneficiaries should get the facility through grama panchayat.
“There is a network of using unclaimed land in fake names. Such land should be seized and distributed among the landless,” urged zilla panchayat member Tungappa Bangera. Member Yashwant Polali drew the attention of education officer that the cycles distributed among school students are of inferior quality. The education officer said that better cycles will be given in exchange of inferior quality cycles.
“There are several complaints against Benjanapadav primary health centre medical officer. As the allegations are proved, I have issued him a show cause notice,” said taluk medical officer Deepa Prabhu. “Health department staff and Anganwadi workers are trained for pulse polio programme that will be held on March 10.” The members said that officials do not attend meetings and asked to issue strict orders to them.
“Villages are facing scarcity of water due to non maintenance of Karopadi multivillage drinking water scheme. Therefore, the technical problems should be solved for supply of water,” said senior member Usman Karopady.
Taluk panchayat vice president Abbas Ali, standing committee president Dhanalaxmi Bangera and tahsildar Rashmi were on the dais. Zilla panchayat member Ravindra Kambali, members Geetachandra Shekar, Padmashree Durgesh Shetty, Haider Kairangala, Sanjiv Poojary, Ramesh Kudmeru, Adam Kunhi and others took part in discussions. Taluk panchayat executive officer Rajanna conducted proceedings of the meeting.
