Udupi, Jan 27: The District Congress Seva Dal made an effort to get the message of brotherhood across on a 2.5 km banner on Monday January 26, ahead of the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on Friday January 30.
Sri Laxmivarateerta Swami of Shiroor Math, Mother of Sorrows parish priest Fr Mathew Vaz, former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake, former minister Vasant V Salian, district Congress president M A Gafoor, Jamia Masjid Moulana Ayoub Kasim, and others participated in the brotherhood campaign held at Gandhi Park near the service bus stand here.
District Seva Dal president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Dinesh Putran, Harish Kini, and Amrit Shenoy, were present on the occasion.
A brotherhood walkathon will be held on the city’s main street on the evening of Thursday January 29.
Journalists, columnists, intellectuals, artists, poets, and the general public will have an opportunity to write their messages, stories, poetry, and cartoons on the banner on the morning of Friday January 30.
A 2.5 km human chain will also be formed in the town at 10.00 am on Friday.
