Karkala, Jan 25: Alva's Rangotsava will be held at K V Subbanna Bayalu Ranga Mandir of Vidyagiri from Tuesday January 27 to Saturday January 31.
The event is being organized by Alva's Education Trust.
The event is being arranged to inculcate an interest in theatre among the public and students, said Dr M Mohan Alva, president, Alva's Education Foundation, speaking at a press conference on Saturday January 24.
M S Krishnamurthy’s play ‘Uganta’ directed by Mandya Ramesh, will be performed by Udupi Rangabhoomi team on Tuesday January 27, while the students of Alva's college will present the translated play ‘Makkala Mayaloka’ by K G Krishnamurty on Wednesday January 28 and national-level award winning play ‘Mahamayi’, directed by Jeevanram Sullia, on Thursday January 29.
K V Akshara’s ‘Swayamvara Loka’ will be performed by Ninasam team on Friday January 30 and Nataraj Honnavalli’s ‘Nata Narayani’ will be staged on Saturday January 31.
Govardhana Hosamani, senior theatre artiste, will inaugurate the programme.
Admission is open to all viewers and free accommodation will be provided to those coming to see the plays from distant places, added Dr Alva.
Deviprasad Shetty, student welfare officer, Alva's College, and Yatiraj Shetty, were present at the press conference.
