Land dispute, youth kills woman with shovel in Chikkaballapur

Chikkaballapur, Feb 9: In a dispute related to the empty government land, a youth killed a woman and escaped from the scene. This incident is reported from Sitahalli village of Shidlaghatta taluk of the district.

Naraynamma (40) a resident of the village is the victim who lost her life in this incident. Shivakumar (24), also a resident of the same village is the one who killed the woman and absconding.

There was a long standing animity between the families of the deceased lady and the youth, who murdered the woman over the rights of an empty government land. The dispute had reached the police station on three to four previous occasions.

The police had counselled both warring families and had taken undertaking from them against fighting. However, Shivakumar went to clean the said government land on Saturday, February 9. Narayanamma, who saw this, questioned Shivakumar. Enraged by the questioning of Narayanamma, Shivakumar hit her head with the shovel he was carrying in his hand. The woman who received serious injury to her head, died on the spot.

Shivakumar absconded from the scene of the murder. The body of the deceased lady is sent to Shidlaghatta government hospital for post mortem. SP Kartik Reddy visited the spot and conducted investigation. A case in this regard is registered in the Dibburahalli police station.
