Kundapur, Feb 8: The Kundapur additional and sessions court remanded six of the eight accused arrested for their involvement in Kota double murder case to police custody till February 15.
Udupi district SP and District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) police cracked the double murder case that happened on Republic day in Kota. Primary accused a rowdy sheeter identified as Harish Reddy, his brother Rajashekar Reddy who is Kota zilla panchayat member, BJP leader Raghavendra Kanchan Barikeri who was in constant communication with Harish Reddy over mobile before and after the incident, G Ravi alias Madikal Ravi, Mahesh Ganiga and Ravichandra Poojary are the accused who are arrested so far. Chandrashekar Reddy, brother of Harish Reddy and Ganesh are absconding. SP
Nimbargi has spread a net for their arrest.
An inquest was conducted on the spot after arrests by DCIB team after obtaining statements from the accused on February 8. The machetes used for murder and thrown at Balebettu curve were shown by the accused. Police have confiscated them.
SP Nimbargi had rushed to the spot soon after the double murder came to his notice and formed four teams to immediately arrest the accused. But as a local police officer did not communicate information on time, the accused could escape. The SP, who got the information after two days, sought cooperation of DCIB, formed teams and conducted searches. It is said that an internal enquiry has revealed that a police officer has conspired with the accused and an inquiry regarding another policeman is in progress.
