Mangaluru, Feb 8: The police have succeeded in arresting seven persons, accusing them of their involvement with robbery of five lac rupees in cash from Asif Muhammed Nakwa from Maharashtra. The robbery had taken place on February 5 on the junction railway station road here.
The arrested accused happen to be Muhammed Sabir (31), Muhammed Naveed alias Naveed Hussain Peera (29), Khwaja Saab (28), Muhammed Nabeel Saab (31), all residents of Abazar Colony, Syed Hussain (32) from Dongarapalli Salman House, Sayyed Fayaz (31) from Magdoom Colony and Nassir Sheikh (21), resident of Kalki Street Bhatkal.
Nakwa had come to the city for fish trade. A bag containing cash in his possession was robbed by a gang of six to seven persons who arrived in a white Tavera car. A case about this robbery was filed in the Kankanady town police station at Kankanady. The police have taken into possession the Tavera car, five lac rupees in cash, and cellphones from the possession of the accused.
The operation was conducted by the Kankanady town station police inspector, Ashok P, law and order police sub-inspector, Pradeep T R, and crime and intelligence police sub-inspector, Janaki, under the guidance of city police commissioner, T R Suresh, deputy commissioner of police, Hanumantharaya and Uma Prashanth, as well as assistant commissioner of police, Rama Rao.
