Mangalore, Jan 23: Of late, Kulur area in the city is creating lot of problems for people moving on national highway 17. The equipments and dug up mud heaped on the roadside and also the ongoing over bridge work have been contributing to traffic hiccups here since long. On Thursday January 22, the traffic snarls continued for almost the entire day.
In addition to the problem created by the road widening work that has been going on near the 4th mile between Kulur and Kottara Chowki, a ore truck developed engine snags and got stranded at this crucial point on Thursday January 22. As a result, hundreds of vehicles lined up on both sides of the road for hours together. The people were seen cursing the district administration for not enforcing the ban that had been ordered earlier, restricting movement of ore trucks on the highway during the day.
The policemen expressed their helplessness in diverting the traffic through the Kulur-Kavoor road, as that road is being concreted at present. No end seems to be in sight for the plight of the road users, who earlier were finding it hard to make their way through the messy Bykampady stretch of the highway.
