Udupi, Feb 6: With an objective of understanding cinema and how to use cinema as a tool, the department of Journalism of MGM College has organised ‘Clapboard and beyond’, a day-long seminar on filmmaking. The seminar will be held on February 8 at Nutana Ravindra Mantapa, MGM College.
The seminar concentrates on collaborating medium of mass communication, an art form with a combination of several art forms. The event will be inaugurated by Girish Rao Hatwar (Jogi), senior film journalist, Bengaluru. The inauguration will be followed by a session by Girish Rao Hatwar.
B A Samvarth Sahil, scriptwriter and lecturer, Manipal, will discuss about the process of making a film. Renowned director and actor Raj B Shetty will speak on how to make a film. The sessions will be interactive.
B S Lingadevaru, renowned film director from Bengaluru, will be the chief guest for the valedictory ceremony. Prizes of A Eshwarraiha Memorial Photography award will be declared on the occasion.
The seminar will concentrate on Cinema Journalism, Cinema appreciation, Cinema grammar, Cinema writing, Cinema techniques, Cinema production and Intellectual Property Rights associated with this field. In total, the seminar dares to think beyond the clapboard. This seminar takes the form of a workshop with a method of participatory learning and understanding through application oriented interactive sessions. Students, teachers, members from the academia, researchers, artists, media and film enthusiasts, professionals and general public will be benefited by this programme.
Manjunath Kamath, HOD department of Journalism, speaking about the seminar said, “This seminar is organized to benefit common people. Many students and others are interested in filmmaking, but they could not do it because of many reasons. This seminar will be a stage to solve all those doubts about filmmaking by conversing with experienced persons from the industry.”
The event will begin at 9 am. Film enthusiasts from all over Karnataka are expected to participate.
