Bantwal, Jan 20: Reforms in society can be achieved by individuals who are cultured and lead a blissful life, said Sri Gurudevanand Swamiji of Odiyoor Math.
Swami Gurudevanand was speaking at a programme organized in his honour on Sunday January 18 by Bantwal–Panemangalur regional committee of Odiyoor Mandalotsav. The programme also consisted of distribution of financial assistance, cultural extravaganza of Bimooda village, and a valedictory ceremony.
Good upbringing is the essence of culture and truth is the essence of religion and faith, said the Swamiji. Cultural excellence takes one to greater heights and the remedy for all social evil lies in incorporating contemporary culture in us, added Swami Gurudevanand.
Sri Mathanandamayee of Odiyoor Math delivered a talk on the Bhagavad Gita.
Coastal Development Authority chairman B Nagaraj Shetty, MLA B Ramanath Rai, taluk panchayat president Chandrahas Shetty Bolantoor, and municipal councilor Yashodha B, were the chief guests of the occasion.
Mumbai entrepreneur Rohit Shetty Nagriguttu, committee chief N Subbanna Shetty Sarapady, K Pramod Kumar Rai, M R Nair, K Devappa Shetty, Ammu Rai, Damodar Nayak, Krishna Kumar Poonja, Prabhakar Prabhu, Mahabala Alva, Anantakrishna Nayak, Mohan P S, Satish Shetty, Vasant Shetty Kedage and Vasant Peraje were present on the dais.
Sub-committee honorary president K Padmanabha Kottari welcomed the gathering. Abhiyan committee convener Satya Ganapaty Pambattaneya delivered the introductory speech. Regional committee convener T Taranath Kottari honoured the dignitaries.
Publicity committee chief Manju Vittal compered the programme.
Earlier, a colourful procession was held from the B C Road–Polali welcome arch to the venue attended by hundreds of people.
