Udupi: Non-violence Only Solution to Nation’s Problems–Namdev Shenoy

Udupi, Jan 20: A seminar on the consequences of terrorism and violence was held on Monday January 19, under the aegis of Nehru Youth Centre, National Service Scheme (NSS) of Mangalore University, Tenkanidiyoor Government First Grade College, and city Lions Club, at Lions Bhavan.
 
Veteran freedom fighter Namdev Shenoy inaugurated the seminar on Monday morning.
 
Addressing the gathering, Shenoy said that it was non-violence that brought freedom to our nation. Gandhiji had proved to the world non-violence can bring rewards through persistence and perseverance, he said.

Naxalism has been witnessed in the nation over the past few years, as we have failed to pursue non-violence in realizing the justice of equality in society, said Shenoy. Only an enlightened society can alleviate terrorism and extremism, he emphasized.
 


Tenkanidiyoor Government First Grade College principal Professor G Yoganand presided over the programme.
 
Lions Club president Nandakumar and Badagubettu Co-Operative Society general manager Jayakar Shetty Indrali were present on the dais.
 
Nehru Youth Centre co-ordination officer Shantakumar delivered the keynote address.
 
Mangalore University NSS officer Dr Gananat Yekkar welcomed the gathering while Manjunath proposed the vote of thanks.
 
Dr Niketan compered the programme.

    A Million times this is true and so shall it be and has it been.. That Non-Violence is the only way to fight all the ills of the society. Enlightened society is what it takes and only education is what is needed to enlighen the society and NOT BRAINWASHING WITH DEVIOUS IDEAS AND MEANS. See the effects of Gandhigiri in action in "India an Indepedant nation". See also the mess and the trouble that has been and possibly will be for time to come in the middle east which knows nothing of non-violence and where state leaders and community elders preach vengence... Sure enough India is not really free in terms of peace to residents and that is because there are violent people who persue their political and economic objectives above the common good and harmony and peace in the society which need some compromise and which will mean less economic benefits and less power. There is no other way but non-violence, there is no other way but minimal compromise and at least a limited understanding of the other but me (I). It will take as much time to attain peace and harmony in society as it takes to society be enlightened and humans be educated in the right direction. NOT A WISHFUL THINKING BUT TRUE AND write it on stone..... Sacrifice and compromise with non-violence is the way for peace and progress and greatness.....
