Mangalore, Jan 19: A traffic control mike was installed at the Hampankatta Circle signal on Saturday January 18.
The installation of the mike was organized by the Mangalore branch of State Bank of India(SBI)in association with the city traffic police.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahapara Ali, chief general manager, SBI, Bangalore, said that Hampankatta is an area where a large number of vehicles move around. It is a pleasure to contribute the mike as a service to society in helping control traffic to some extent, he said.
The equipment works on remote access and helps control traffic besides assisting pedestrians to cross the roads, especially children, he added.
This has been installed as a precursor to the safety traffic week to be held from Tuesday January 20 to Tuesday January 27, said Ali.
Ali handed over the mike kit to A M Prasad, inspector general of police, west zone.
Ganesh Bhat, regional manager, SBI, C M Tallu, assistant general manager, SBI, N Satish Kumar, superintendent of police, D Dharmayya, deputy superintendent of police, Jayant V Shetty, deputy superintendent of police, Panambur, G V Subramanya, traffic police, and other police officials were present on the occasion.
