Kundapur, Jan 17: Speaking after taking part as the chief guest in the 45th annual day celebrations of the local Bhandarkar's College on Friday January 16, Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde opined, that the greatest achievements of Independent India to date has been petty politics and rampant corruption that have spread to even remote corners of the country. The current generation has failed to arrest fraud, cheating and corruption that have become the order of the day, he lamented.
"The administrative machinery in India has become so bad that it appears to be impossible to set it right. Therefore, the present-day students should make up their minds to build a value-based society," Hegde advised. He felt, that the government is afraid to vest full powers with the Lokayukta for the fear that the Lokayukta might harm those who delegate the powers to him, by using them against those in the government.
