Karkala, Jan 17: K Narasimha Prabhu (88), partner of KVP Oil Mills, an active senior citizen of the town, a popular personality who dedicated himself to the service of the people through social and educational fields, breathed his last in a private hospital in Mangalore on Friday January 16. He is survived by four sons.
Prabhu was a dedicated Gandhian and maintained high ethical values in business dealings. He was one of the founder members of Sri Bhuvanendra College and was close to Dr T M A Pai who founded the college. He worked as the treasurer of the Board of Trustees and subsequently as the president of the College Governing Council efficiently.
Prabhu had worked as the president of the local town panchayat and then as the first president of the municipality after it was renamed. He was in the forefront in the struggle against the practice of levying Octroi and had incessantly worked for having a streamlined water supply system for the city.
He was active also in social service and religious fields. For several years, he worked as the vice president of Kashi Math Welfare Fund.
