Mangalore, Jan 14: A meeting of the Karnataka Regional Youth Commission was held at Shanti Kiran, Bajjodi here on Friday January 9.
Regional youth director of the Commission Fr Franklin D'Souza welcomed the new chairman Dr Henry D'souza, Bishop of Bellary into the Youth Commission.
Pramod A, regional president of Indian Catholic Youth Movement, welcomed Bishop Henry with a Bouquet.
Rodney Pereira, who was the resource person, spoke on the topic of 'challenges faced by the youth of today'.
The Bishop then evaluated the need of our region to guide the youth of today. Main topic evolved was 'Leadership role in the transformation of a new society'. Mode of training for the youth in various skills was also discussed.
After this, at around 12 pm, Fr Franklin welcomed the out going chairman Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, who guided the Youth Commission for two consecutive terms (8 years). Fr Anil D'Souza, youth director of Mangalore diocese, placed on record the appreciation for the services provided to the region by Bishop Aloysius and thanked him for the same.
On Behalf of the Youth Commission, the newly inducted chairman Bishop Henry Honoured outgoing chairman, Bishop Aloysius, with shawl, garland and fruits.
Bishop Aloysius thanked God and also the youth. He told the gathering that love for the youth has always gained priority in his mission.
Representatives from AICUF, Jesus Youth, and YCS/YSM were also participated in the meeting.
