Mangalore, Jan 10: The 'Hindu Jana Jagruti conference' is being be held at the Nehru Maidan here on Sunday January 11 at 5pm. The event is being organized by the Hindu Jana Jagruti committee.
N Vinay Hegde, chancellor, Nitte University,, Sri Yogananda Saraswati Swamiji, Nityanand Yogashram, Lakshminarayana Asranna, chief priest, Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple, MLA C T Ravi, MLA Yogish Bhat, mayor Ganesh Hosabettu, Shakila Kava, city deputy mayor, Vinayak Shanbhag, Sanatan Samsathan, P P Hegde, Mangalore Bar Association and Ranganat Kini, chairman of the City Corporation standing committee, will participate in the conference, informed Mohan Gowda, spokesman of the Hindu Jana Jagruti committee, speaking at a press conference held here on Friday January 9.
The conference is being held to propagate importance of religious education and significance of religious celebrations. It aims at creating awareness among the people on the issues like nationalization of temples, holding of programmes that are against the tenets of culture in temples and committees engaging themselves in malicious propaganda, he said.
As a part of the conference, religious awareness programmes in various parts of the state are being conducted, said Gowda.
Around 10,000 people are expected to participate in the conference.
Vinayak Shanbhag of the Sanatan Samsathan was present at the press conference.
