Bengaluru, Jan 22: State minister for water resources, D K Shivakumar, has announced that he would be adopting Veerapura, birth place of ‘Walking God’ Sri Shivakumara Swamiji, who passed away on Monday January 21.
Veerapura, where Shivakumara Swamiji was born, is located in Ramanagara district. Shivakumar said that this village is located within the limits of his constituency and that he has decided to develop this village in all possible ways.
An eerie silence has enveloped Veerapura since the news of its proud son, Shivakumara Swamiji's demise reached its residents. The families in the village have left for Tumakuru to have last glimpse of the departed saint.
Veerapura is located within Kudur revenue division of Magadi taluk. At the entrance to the village, a board announcing the village to be the birthplace of Sri Shivakumara Swamiji welcomes visitors.
Sri Shivakumara Swamiji, who has disciples all over the state, had visited nooks and corners of the state at the request of his followers. His birthplace however, is lagging behind as far as development is concerned. The village is in need of good roads, bus facility, drinking water facility etc. As minister Shivakumar has announced to take personal interest and develop this village, there is hope that it will progress and leaps in bounds within no time.
