Mangalore: Two-Day National Seminar in St Aloysius College from Jan 9

Mangalore, Jan 8: The department of English, St Aloysius College will organize a two-day national seminar on 'Subaltern Encounters in Indian Literature in English and Translation' at the IT Auditorium from January 9.
Addressing media persons at the Press Club here on Wednesday January 7, Dr A Lourdusamy said that Dr Rajendra Chenni of the department of English, Kuvempu University will inaugurate the seminar, while Prof Dasan, Kannur University will deliver the keynote address. Rector Fr Francis Serrao will preside over the inaugural function. The valedictory function will be chaired by the college principal Fr Swebert D'silva. Dr William Robert Da Silva, professor of communications and social sciences will also participate in the programme, he added.
He said teachers and scholars from West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puduchery will also participate in the seminar. 'A conscious effort is being made to resurrect the forgotten and neglected encounters of the subaltern realities. "Scholars have become aware of this fact and some of them vehemently pursue to bring to light such interventions that need the attention of the day", he added.
Prof Ratan Tilak Mahanta, Prof Alwyn D'sa and principal Fr Swebert D'silva were present at the press meet.
