Mangaluru Jan 21: The inauguration of Snehalaya Psycho-social Rehabilitation Asylum for Women and Snehalaya Chapel will be inaugurated by Y Sudhir Kumar Shetty, president, UAE Exchange Worldwide on January 26 at Pavoor Manjeshwar, on the occasion of decennial celebration of Snehalaya Charitable Trust, informed founder and president Joseph Crasta.
Addressing media here on Monday January 21, Joseph Crasta said,"Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha will bless the chapel and main celebrant of the Eucharist, Bishop of Bareilly diocese Dr Ignatius D Souza will bless the women block, capuchin provincial-Karnataka province Bengaluru Fr Joseph Dolphy Pais will bless the grotto of our lady of Lourdes, Vicar St Alphonsa Forance Chuch Kankanady Fr Sebastian Chalackappally will release of the decennial souvenir,”

Organising president of inaugural function of new building, Roy Castelino, said," Snehalaya is a prominent NGO around Mangaluru for last 10 years and it has rescued more than 700 destitute from Mangaluru streets. These were all been saved from pathetic conditions on the streets who were eating food from garbage. Among the rescued, 498 have reached their respective houses all over India. They were from Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Uttarkhand, Assam, Andhra and other states. Joseph Crasta has taken up the initiative in feeding them food, providing them accommodation, shelter, medical facilities under the name of Snehalaya Psycho Social Rehabilitation Centre. So far the centre had 175 beds for men. Now the number goes to 250 beds for men and 150 bed for women,”
