Mangalore: Need to Pool Data of NRI Malayalees – MP Abdul Kutti

Mangalore, Jan 6: The census of NRI Malayalees and residents of Kerala living outside the state across the country is required to be carried out to arrive at their exact figure while both union and Kerala state governments are expected to take some concrete action in this regard, said Kerala MP Abdul Kutti.
MP Abdul Kutti was speaking after presiding over the Christmas and New Year celebrations held on Monday January 5 evening at Town Hall, here, organized by city based Kerala Samajam.
Although several Malayalee organizations are actively involved in promoting Kerala culture and traditions both in India and abroad, they lack the data of entire Malayalee families. Ministry of NRI affairs should take the help of local Malayalee organizations, in order to gather the data of Malayalee families residing in all over India and across the globe, he added.
MP Abdul Kutti also conveyed New Year best wishes to the entire Malayalee community that has made the city as their abode for many years.
Kerala Samajam president K V Paulose presided over the programme. Amrit TV channel music competition winner child singer Manushankar, O K Bhaskar and others were present at the occasion.
Kerala Samajam secretary P Narayanan welcomed the gathering. Vice president A P Balagopalan proposed vote of thanks.
Variety entertainment programmes was held by cultural unit of Kerala Samajam after the stage programme.
Musical concert, filmy dance and mimicry were also held at the occasion.
