Mangaluru, Jan 19: The residents of Ullal Hoige and Diamond Road are now happy that their long-awaited demand for a bridge has finally been fulfilled by the authorities.
For the past many years the residents had used a bridge which connects Ullal Hoige and Diamond Road areas to the highway between Thokkottu and Jeppinamogaru.
However, due to heavy rains last year, the bridge collapsed and the mentioned areas lost direct connectivity to the highway. Immediately, locals started approaching the officials for new bridge but their efforts went in vain.
Daijiworld TV published a special report and asked elected representatives to consider the issue on a priority basis. Noticing the report, Vedavyas Kamath, MLA of Mangaluru South and corporator Surendra visited the spot and understood the necessity of a bridge. Immediately, they instructed the officials to sanction the fund and start the work on the bridge.
Speaking to Daijiworld the locals said, “We are thankful to our MLA, corporator and officials for new bridge. The credit of new bridge goes to Daijiworld because they took this issue very seriously and conveyed our demand to the officials. They have proved through this that media has real concern for society.”
