Udupi, Jan 5: In an incident that occurred on Sunday January 4, suspected workers of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Pravin Shetty faction) vandalized a house after forcibly entering it and took away with them a young couple to Bangalore.
The gang reportedly took away Nayanesh Naik (24) and his wife Anushree (20) against the wishes of the couple. It is said, that the policemen also handcuffed Nayanesh and his brother Subhas Naik. However, they released Subhas Naik after reaching Brahmavar. It is gathered, that the incident relates to the recent love marriage of the couple against the wishes of the bride's family.
Nayanesh works in Bangalore and got closer to Anushree when she was pursuing fashion designing course there. Although initially the family of the girl strongly opposed the alliance, after Brahmavar circle inspector G Krishnamurthy intervened, the two entered wedlock through registered marriage.
The gang which suddenly barged into the house of Nayanesh reportedly comprised of eight persons including Shivaprasad Shetty, president of Hebri Mandalijaddu unit of KRV. A constable and a woman constable from Kempegowda police station in Bangalore too accompanied the gang. Reportedly, the people assaulted Nayanesh and his three-month pregnant wife Anushree while taking them away. The couple was produced before Brahmavar sub-inspector of police Shivanand Walekar before taking them to Bangalore.
Yashoda,mother of Nayanesh, who was injured in the attack, has filed a complaint in Brahmavar police station, accusing the assaulters of breaking open the door of her home and assaulting the family members besides passing cast-based derogatory remarks against her. She is being treated in Brahmavar government hospital.
The local Hindu organizations have condemned the action of the workers of the KRV and warned of laying seize to Brahmavar police station on January 5 if the accused are not arrested immediately.
