Mangaluru Jan 17: District Congress staged protest here at Congress Bhavan at Mallikatte on Thursday, January 17, against BJP's ‘resort politics’ and ‘Operation Lotus’.
Addressing the protestors, former minister Ramanath Rai said, "BJP is trying to kill the coalition government. It could not prove its majority during the floor test. Instead of abandoning plans of destabilising the government in the state, BJP is back with ‘resort politics’. The party always speaks one thing and does the other. BJP stands for ‘Bharatiya Joot Party’. We condemn the attempts of BJP to destablise our government in the state.”
District Congress president Harish Kumar said, "BJP are striving hard to come back to power and are trying to topple our coalition government. The coalition government is ruling since seven months and we have not got any support from them. BJP are trying to offer money and are playing resort politics.
"BJP is announcing deadlines over the toppling of government. But they are unsuccessful. Congress is united and hence BJP cannot do anything.
"From the past 10 days, BJP is spending Rs 4.5 crore per day for the report where the MLAs are residing. From where is the money coming from? The state is facing drought, and seven fishermen are missing from Malpe, but BJP is least bothered about it. We are just a few months away from Lok Sabha elections and Congress will be victorious this time,” he said.
District youth Congress president Mithun Rai, corporator Asha D’Silva and others were present.
