Udupi: Families perform Mrathyunjaya Homa for safe return of missing fishermen

Udupi, Jan 16: As there are no clues of seven missing fishermen even after more than a month, their families performed Mrathyunjaya Homa together for their safe return in historic Anantheshwara temple in Udupi on Wednesday, January 16.

Fishermen organisations joined them in the pooja.

After the Homa, fishermen association president Sathish Kunder speaking to media said, “It is more than a month now since the fishermen went missing. The navy's and police’s efforts have turned futile. Hence, we are performing this Homa so that God can bail us out of this situation.”

It may be recalled, the fishing boat, Suvarna Tribhuja, went missing after it had left the coast for deep sea fishing on December 13. The last contact made by the boat with other boats was on December 16.

Seven fishermen were onboard when the boat went missing. Chandrashekar (40) and Damodar (40), are from Badanidiyur village in Malpe, while the Lakshman (45), Sathish (35), Ravi (27), Harish (28), and Ramesh (30) are from Bhatkal.

    While duly respecting their faith in religious homas, they should have, much earlier, engaged some expert agency having experience in finding missing boats!!

    One should press the government of the province for better marine weather reports, training "captains" of fishing vessels, safety inspections, Communication systems, GPS methods etc.

    This is the biggest mistake of human being.!!
    After every efforts we seek god!!
    We must seek gods help first then everything.
    Ancient time there were no hospitals or clinics near by.if a patient is sick people first offer prayers then carry the patient to clinic.
    And god really intervene during those days for people’s faith
    But now we try every possible ways and atlast nothing happens then we look up for God
