Mangalore, Dec 31: Mangalore City Corporation at its session held on Tuesday December 30, decided to seek clarification from the state government on the regularization of illegal buildings.
When chief whip Shankar Bhat raised the issue, commissioner Sameer Shukla said that the last date to receive application for regularization of illegal buildings was December 31. The corporation has already written to the urban development department, seeking clarifications on several issues pertaining to the subject, he informed.
The corporation has received 487 applications along with fee of Rs 1.36 crore under the scheme. When Mariamma Thomas complained about the problems the road users have been facing due to several ongoing road concretization works, the mayor said that the citizens will have to bear with the inconveniences for a short period, as development works running into crores of rupees are being implemented in the city.
Discussions in self assessment property tax scheme remained inconclusive. The corporation approved of plans to desilt sand deposits at the Tumbe vented dam crest gates.
