Karkala, Dec 31: The Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management under Nitte Education Trust, has introduced campus classes in pristine surroundings in the shade of age-old trees. Covering an area of almost three acres, discussions, seminars, and case studies, are held here in a relaxed environment.
Known as ‘Bahiranga’ it is the latest addition at the Institute to enable the students to interact freely with lecturers away from classrooms, where a compressed environment distracts the concentration of both students and lecturers.
The Alumni Association of Nitte Education Trust donated Rs 50,000 to erect 15 stone benches, a stage and a podium, to mark the decennial celebrations. Speakers and an audio system have also been provided at the venue for the convenience of lecturers and students.
Management classes are held here at least once a week and are eagerly awaited by students. Classes are held here from January till May.
Survival and disaster recovery training is also conducted at Bahiranga. Power point presentations and practicals are also held here, says associate professor Dr Sudhir Raj K. The setting up of outdoor classes has been inspired by Dr M S Moodittaya, Nitte University vice-chancellor Vinay Hegde, and Nitte Education Trust director Vishal Hegde.
Professors from six western countries lectured to 60 students on Tuesday December 30, at Bahiranga, in an experience that was joyful for the professors and students alike.
