Kasargod, Jan 9: Kasargod special police team arrested the murder accused of Gadag based woman Sarasu alias Saraswati (35) on Wednesday, January 9. The arrested has been identified as is Belagavi Kerekoppa resident Chandru Ramesh Kamble alias Sunil (39).

“The accused had a fight with Saraswati in a drunken stupor and he has confessed that he banged the head of Saraswati to a wall and killed her,” said police officer Shilpa. Chandru who was laying tiles in Kasargod for living was staying with Saraswati in the outskirts of the city in a chawl.

Chandru was arrested by investigating team from Theerthahalli. Saraswati was found killed in Vidyanagar quarters on December 20. Chandru who was with her was missing. He had left the premise after locking the quarters, handing over the door key to its owner, saying that he will return after two days.

Chandru’s mobile was switched off. As he did not return even after four days, the owner opened the door to take material in the house and found the woman murdered. Police from Vidyanagar and Kasargod had come to the spot and conducted investigations. Police had gathered details of Chandru as he was missing.

A special team was formed in the leadership of DSP Dr A Srinivas. Investigation was extended to Karnataka.

Chandru and Saraswati were staying together for the last five months. Saraswati was murdered on December 17. The murder came to light on December 20.

Kasargod station circle inspector V V Manoj, sub inspector Ajith Kumar, ASI K M John, Pradeep Kumar, Narayanan, Laxmi Narayana, Rajesh, Manu, Lathish, Shijith, Rathish, Srikanth and Shivakumar were in the investigating team.
