Udupi: Fisherfolk protest on Jan 6 – heavy security in place

Udupi, Jan 6: As the fisherfolk community is holding a mega protest demanding action on missing boat ‘Suvarna Tribhuja’ which had carried 7 fishermen, heavy security arrangements are in place throughout city and outskirts on Sunday, January 6.

The protest rally will begin at 8 am at Malpe and will proceed towards Udupi through Kalmadi and Karavali Junction. The liquor sales are prohibited from 8 am to 8 pm today.


Missing boat

Thousands are protestors are expected to participate in the protest.

Entire fisherfolk community from coastal area is joining this protest, it is gathered. 

There has not been fishing activities like before as fisherfolk are said to be totally affected by the missing boat incident.

    We should request for international help. Countries like USA, UK, France have blue water navy and best technology for such rescue operation.

    The state government should see this protest in utmost seriousness.
    Remember when fisherfolk came to streets on anti-MRPL protests??

    According to the news in media the state government is very serious and active in searching the missing boat . Meanwhile our coast guards also active via their boat and helicopter.
    Suddenly this protest is unnecessary in this juncture. Need of the hour is to consolidate effected families. Let the people and particularly fishing fishing community not to bring politics on this issue.
    One good news of liquor ban on this day particularly being Sunday is needed to avoid further disturb the situation.
