Udupi: Lay Emphasis on Self-employment—Dr B M Hegde

Udupi, Dec 24: The students should not only focus on securing government employment and jobs in information technology, but should also take a keen interest in self-employment opportunities that bring about rural development, said Dr B M Hegde, retired vice-chancellor, Manipal University.
Dr Hegde was addressing a gathering of Alumni Association of Cross Land College, Bramavar, near here. It was held as part of the silver jubilee celebration of the college, recently.
Students across the nation are at crossroads due to the influence of media. Some of them are involved in social evils like terrorism, he added.
Cross Land College correspondent Dr Roy Philip, Little Rock Indian English Medium School principal Prof Mathew C Nainan, Alumni Association Bramavar unit Umesh Kumar Shetty, Krishna C Amin, Bangalore unit Biju T, secretary Chandrashekar Shetty parents and teachers association Robert Philip D Souza, alumnus Vijayendra, were the chief guests on the occasion.
Cross Land College principal Prof Samuel K delivered the keynote address. Prof Johnson Jacob proposed the vote of thanks. Alumnus Riya Rachu Samuel compered the programme.
