Mangalore, Dec 22: The annual award ceremony of the Dr Bola Vittal Shetty Foundation was held at Vajra Auditorium of Moti Mahal on Sunday December 21.
Participating as a chief guest, Dr B M Hegde, retired vice-chancellor, Manipal University, said that lack of proteins in the poor and children are the greatest challenges and a study must be conducted to find the solution.
The foundations which come forward to give societal assistance must think about solutions to fundamental problems like poverty, health, and education, he said.
There is a lot of development in the field of science and technology but problems like poverty are only growing but people prefer to turn a blind eye to it, he regretted.
Delivering information on the scheme of the foundation Dr Hegde said that it would always support provision of drinking water facility and education to the highly backward Bola village in Dakshina Kannada district. People can join hands with the foundation for further development, he said.
The Dr Bola Vittal Shetty award was given to Babu Harijana, Sandhya, Jyoti, and Jeevita. Dr Ambarish, Dr M Sudhakar Shetty, Saraswati Shetty, and Vinod Shetty were present on the occasion.
