Kundapur, Dec 30: The last rites of late IPS officer Madhukar Shetty were held with full state honour here at his native on Sunday, December 30.
District police at the presence of DGP, IGP, SPs and senior police officers along with large number of locals paid last respects to the late officer.
Minister U T Khader paid last respect to the late officer on behalf of the state government. DC Priyanka Mary Francis also paid homage.
Daughter Samya, brother's son Sarang, brothers Muralidhar and Sudhakar lit the funeral pyre at 12.15 in the noon at Yadadi next to tombs of his parents after the state honour.
Madhukar Shetty, IPS officer, died of H1N1 in Hyderabad on Friday, December 28, was an upright officer.
Madhukar Shetty, who was known for his efficiency and honesty, had served as SP in Chikkamagaluru and Chamarajanagara and as DCP traffic in Bengaluru. He was famous as a strict and disciplined officer during his time as a SP in Lokayukta, where he conducted investigation on illegal mining and denotification cases.
Shetty was born on December 17, 1971. He completed M A in Sociology from JNU Delhi. He was an IPS officer of the 1999 batch. He had secured PhD from USA in 2011, where he had gone on leave for higher education. After he completed his PhD and arrived back to the country, he was promoted as DIG and served in the recruitment for police for some time.
