Bangalore, Dec 20: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has dedicated the honorary doctorate given to him by the Saginaw State University, Michigan, U.S., to the farmers and the people of Karnataka.
Speaking at a felicitation function organised in his honour here on Thursday, Mr. Yeddyurappa said he had decided to dedicate the honorary doctorate to the people of Karnataka when it was conferred on him in the U.S. about a week ago.

“I wish to transform Bangalore into a world class city and at the same time improve the civic infrastructure in urban areas. Besides, I will bring about development in the rural areas and I will pursue these goals with renewed vigour,” Mr. Yeddyurappa said.
The former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Courts, M. Rama Jois, said there was nothing wrong in Mr. Yeddyurappa accepting the honorary doctorate.
Karnataka Book Authority Chairman Siddalingaiah said Mr. Yeddyurappa deserved the honorary doctorate in view of his four-decade-long dedicated service to farmers and people of Karnataka.
Ministers V.S. Acharya, Muguresh Nirani, Shobha Karandlaje, Ramachandra Gowda and P.M. Narendraswamy and Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Managing Director Ashok Kheny, Director of Human Resources, Infosys Technologies, Mohandas Pai, and actors Jayamala, Jayanthi, Raghavendra Rajkumar and Tara were present.
