You never know what was this argument about. There are doctors who treat patients relatives like they are nothing. Doctors donot explain patients condition, prognosis etc. Upon asking some of them answer irrelevant statements or keep their mouth shut. Even in critical care unit one person can visit once which is unfair. Next hour the patient may not live. Infact a patient can become better if wife mother or adult child with the patient for a while. I strongly feel when we are patients we are only at the mercy of Lord. In this case I can see this lady talking while the man is angry....and as a doctor when relative angry she should remain calm because it is his relative is a patient not hers

@Eva Kirem, when a patient is in intensive care unit, then it is understood a intensive care to be given ,patient have to get rest.He is not there as for public show .Only a person to visit or none too is possible,so that visitors only disturb by continuesly going out or in coming in. When patient is uder watch with monitor, ecg, etc.he must have simply some rest.to talk to visitors he will get exausted, ecg will not be correct. As you say next minute he may not be there, well what can you do at that moment?you disturb more than help.!let him be a patient not a person to bring you to laugh.many people dont understand the situation at hospital and start to discuss or fight.Sure not always doctors explain to visitors the situation or the truth. Many dont understand also what doctors say medical terms.but we as visitors have to try their situations too.Only onething we should avoid to attack personal, whatever they are.respect yourself and others too.

Nothing will happen to this rogue. In the past 2 years I've heard about such incidents in many hospitals in Mangalore. The management has not even pursued the case. On the contrary, they have asked the doctor to either not pursue the case or told them to manage the legal matter on their own. This pathetic attitude of the management and senior doctors is the reason for recurrence of such violent behaviour.

Put this rogue character behind bars until he realises what he's done and get his senses back. He does not know what it takes to become a doctor and serve in a hospital caring for the sick and dying. Unfortunately our system has failed the doctors time and again and it is the main reason these incidents repeatedly happen in public and private hospitals.

He must be loving his father a lot and some thing might have gone wrong with medical treatment conducted by the doctor.

However he did not have right to assault and instead he mus have approached the hospital management or the police with complaint.

He shall be booked and punished for the assault on the doctor.

I understand the emotions of the son whos father was sick. Perhaps he was upset with something and reacted violently. But it must be understood that Doctors have their limitations. Sometimes there cant be a cure for all diseases. In fact in Medicine many things are beyond the control of the treating Physicians. Many a time things can go wrong in Medical wards. Patients can suddenly develop complications during treatment. And sometimes cardiac arrest etc can occur without warning. We should not react violently in Hospitals when things go wrong. If people start attacking treating physicians then it will not be easy for Doctors to work. Medicine becomes very defensive and the cost of treatment is likely to go up considerably. So lets respect the medical profession and do not attack DOctors. Though there are some blacksheeps who may be making money in general DOctors are good people. Most DOctors are sincere human beings who work sincerely. Hence we should not generalise medical profession as bad, I am sure people will understand and should not attack medical professionals. Let public understand Doctors difficulties and lets respect the medical profession. We should be able to control our emotions when we have health problems with our close relatives and we should not over react to the problem, After all in medical science so many times exact problems can not be identified . Many a times Doctors have to make a trial and error approch before a final diagnosis or treatment is decided.

@ Kumari, why this justification for a person who manhandled a woman doctor? Need I say this has become a practice for people who do not respect others? pl read Hyderabad and Mumbai papers how angry men ransacking hospitals and hitting doctors to show their love for their kin.

What’s your profession? Don’t to you do any mistakes any time. Can the grieved man handle you when you fault? No doctors can guarantee cure for any illness 100% . Don’t take law unto your hands and don’t support who break the law. Get allow yourself to be treated only by a doctor and the hospital whom you trust. If you lose faith in a doctor you are free to change your doctor.

Hooliganism is what is father thought him.
He should have spent time and supporter son to become Doctor.
That son would have been learnt how to manage the patient expectations.
Now jail or mental hospital is the right place for the candidate.
No violence will justify the mismatch of expectations and expertise.

Many people have aired their opinions in this column in different tones and from different angles. But whatever may be the reasons, whether it is mental status of patient party or hospitals commercialization attitudes or about mounting bill amount one should behave properly in a gentleman manner and dealing with staffs of the hospital once we are inside the hospital for the treatment of our patient. Behaving impatiently with the doctors, staffs will definitely have an adverse effect. I do agree from patient's point of mental status when our patient is undergoing treatment, how mentally unstable we are. We are curious to know about the patient's progress every moment in one side, mounting bill amount on other side etc etc. There are plenty of reasons to get mentally upset, pressurized. In spite of all, we have to control our nerve while dealing with doctors, hospital staffs controlling our emotions, nerves, pulse and atmosphere of that particular moment. If any mistakes ,lapses, committed by hospital staff, complain to the higher authorities for taking punitive action on the erring doctors or any other staffs rather than taking law into our hands and behave rudely and creating a ruckus inside the hospital. After all they too are human beings like us. Mistakes can be committed by anyone at any time in spite of our due care and precautions. Here in this case beating a lady doctor (RMO) is unwarranted, unethical and it shows his culture, identity and muscle power. Whoever he may be, should be seriously dealt with as per the law and award him maximum quantum of punishment. Such incidents should not occur, repeat in the future.

Sahil mangalore, but it is not a reason to attack hospital doctors .When relatives find something is not in ordnung, then simply complain to higher authorities.but dont attach hospital crew, and a lady doctor. One should have atleast a little commonsense and respect towards women.when bill is high, they knew in the beginn ,private hospital is not like govt.hospital. Are hospital members scapegoats of aggressivitates of Public.?He should atleast now say sorry to the doctor.Afterall his father is there getting treated.
