Mangalore, Dec 18: A programme of the Dharmastala Rural Development Scheme and installation of ‘A’ and ‘B’ Okkuta of self-help groups was held at Subraya Kalyana Mantapa, Perdoor, on Wednesday December 17.
Speaking on the occasion Kudi Srinivas Bhat, progressive farmer, said that the Dharmastala rural development scheme will give new life to the rural people, who are losing interest in agriculture. The scheme has been formed to make the barren land fertile, he said.
Raviraj Shetty, president, ‘B’ Okkuta, self-help group, presided over the function.
Bharati, secretary, Perdoor Union, submitted the union report. Lalitamba, president of the union, and Satish Nayak delivered the keynote address on the occasion.
Former office-bearers Chandra Putran and Shankar Kulal, were honoured with mementos on the occasion.
Narayan Palan, supervisor, Hiriyadka zone, welcomed the gathering. Suresh Nayak, social worker, Perdoor, proposed the vote of thanks. Prashant Shetty, lecturer, compered the programme.
