Udupi, Dec 15: Home Guards Day was observed at Kota Vivek Pre-university College on Saturday December 13.
The programme was organized by Kota Saligrama Rotary Club, Brahmavar Rotary Club, district home guard, Kota Vidya Sangh, fire service and emergency services departments.
Speaking on the occasion, deputy commissioner P Hemalata, said that the Indian police service, army, naval and commandos need higher education and more training. The home guard has more opportunities to safeguard the life of the citizens at the village, district, and taluk-level.
A G Kodgi, chairman, state third finance commission, Prabakar Mayya, president, Kota Vidya Sangh, Nagesh Shanbhag, principal, Manjunath S K, president, Rotary Club, Pradeep Kumar Mallar, G Ratnakar, chairman, Rotary Club, B S Bhat, and Subramanya Upadhyay, were present on the occasion.
Dr Ganapati Bhat, district commandant, welcomed the gathering. Sitaram Achar compered the programme and Ratnakar proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme was held under the direction of R Krishnamurthy, district speaker, K Sadanand, Karkala unit, U Kumar Udupi, Brahmavar Manjunat Shettigar, Vinayak Devadiga, Kundapur, Naveen Suvarna, Padubidri, Sadashiv Servegar, Saraswati, and Ganapati Byndoor.
