Moodbidri, Dec 15: The national-level quiz competition ‘Alva's Jnananjana-08’, was held at Alva's Ayurvedic Medical College, recently.
The Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda University, Udupi, bagged the first place ‘Rasa Visharada’ award and a cash prize of Rs 10, 000 while Tilaka Ayurveda University, Pune, came in second with a cash prize of Rs 7,500 and took away the ‘Beshaja Praveen’ award.
Over 40 Ayurveda colleges from all over the country participated in the quiz programme.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Dr M Mohan Alva, president, Alva's Educational Foundation, said that ‘Rasa Shastra’ and ‘Beshaja’ are a part of Ayurveda from ancient times. High levels of adulteration and pollution are responsible for it losing value. But the quality of medicine should be safeguarded, he said.
Dr Shashi Kumar, Kerala, submitted a seminar on the topic ‘Clinical Rasa Shastra’.
Dr B Vinaychandra Shetty, secretary, Dr K Lakshmeesh Upadhyay, principal, Suresh Negalaguli, dean, post graduation department, and Dr Krishnamurthy, department of Rasa Shastra, were present on the occasion.
