Mangalore, Dec 9: The Dakshina Kannada Sessions court on Monday December 8 has granted bail to Nagesh Shetty, the prime accused in the shootout in Worldwide Shipping Company at Kulur near here. Nagesh Shetty, an accomplice of underworld don Ravi Poojary, had been arrested on charges of opening fire at Worldwide Shipping Company.
Police sources said that Ravi Poojary had demanded hafta from HML company proprietor M Mohiddin. But whe the latter denied to pay hafta, Ravi Poojary had sent his accomplices to Kulur-based company. The three accused who arrived on a car had opened fire inside the company office.
When police gave a hot chase to the accused, the latter had left their car at Kunjatbail and fled the place. Meanwhile Worldwide Shipping company manager Noel Francis Veigas had filed a complaint with the Kavoor police in this regard. On the other hand Ravi Poojary had claimed responsibility for the act through the media.
The Kavoor police who were interrogating the case had finally landed in Mumbai where they arrested one Nagesh Shetty, who was said to be the prime accused in the case. Howerver, the latter had through his counsel argued that he had been trapped in the case. Considering his plea, the Sessions court had now granted him bail.
