Udupi, Dec 9: DC of Udupi district, Priyanka Mary Francis has informed that another three weeks are required to give permission to extract sand from non-Coastal Regulatory Zone (non-CRZ) area.
Priyanka Mary was speaking with the scribes at Kundapur on Saturday, December 8. Clarifying the issue the DC further said, "Permission is granted to five people after calling tender to extract sand in the CRZ area. There is also information that in certain areas these people are being obstructed from extracting sand. If we receive, written complaint, police protection will be provided to extract sand.
“Once the permission is given, no one should obstruct the work. As permission is being given for the first time in the district to extract sand from non-CRZ area, it needs time. It takes at least three weeks’ time to call tender and also get permission for the finance. The sand which is extracted at Kodi during the Gangolli breakwater project work will be given to the public at government rate. PWD can be contacted for this,” she said.
