Udupi, Dec 8: ‘Festival of Peace–2018’, a three-day prayer and worship festival, organised by Fellowship of Udupi District Churches was inaugurated on Friday, December 7 at Christian PU ground Udupi.
Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese, inaugurated the programme by releasing balloons into the sky. Pastor Jeevan Prasad, John Abraham, pastor Ashok Kaup, pastor Joseph Jamakhandi, president of Full Gospel pastors association, Jayaprakash Simon, UBM church president Udupi, Sudhakar Gozal, treasurer, Prashanth Jathanna, trustee of the committee, Vincent Sequeira and members of the fellowship Udupi District Churches were present.
Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, in his inaugural speech, said, “The life of Jesus Christ is relevant today. We need peace and calmness. But today, we see that the enmity is affecting the world. Peace and love are gifts from Jesus. He strived for the sake of peace. Those who are striving for peace are very fortunate. It is a glorious gift of God. The messages of Jesus are very clear. When we are free from sins, only then we can attain salvation. Let us listen to the words of God and follow His way of life. Let us adopt His words in our life. Let us strengthen humanity by spreading the messages of Jesus. Let us take the name of God in all our work. This will help us attain peace in mind, heart and at homes and also in the world. Let us bring for peace around us.”
The speaker of the event, Rev Sam P Chelladurai, Chennai, Apostolic Fellowship Tabernacle, delivered the Gospel and messages of Jesus Christ. E D Chelladurai translated the speaker's words.
A choir team led by Sarala Sons and pastor Francis Oliver performed beautiful music. Majula Chelladurai was present.
On the same event, pastor Selva Kumar wished Rev Sam P Chelladurai on his birthday.
The programme began with invocation by pastor Jeevan Prasad.
Suchith Kotian compered the programme.
Hundreds of people participated in the programme.
The ‘Festival of Peace’ will be held at 5.30 pm. There will be sessions on Gospel study, sins and how to overcome them, salvation and on other topics on three days.
