Chikkamagaluru, Nov 29: AICC president Rahul Gandhi declaring he is a ‘Dattatreya Brahmin’ while visiting Pushkar temple in Rajasthan, has invited potshots from BJP leaders.
Karnataka BJP State Secretary Shobha Karandlaje at press conference in Chikkamagaluru, took a dig at Gandhi asking when he obtained a caste certificate stating he is a Brahmin. “Usually caste certificate is obtained on the basis of father’s caste, right?” she questioned.
She critiqued the Congress leader for giving misleading statements with regard to his caste, while elections in five states are nearing. “Rahul’s name is registered in the church,” she pointed out.
“The temple run is not a new thing for Rahul Gandhi. He had done it in Karnataka and is doing the same in other states, in the backdrop of the upcoming elections,” said Karandlaje.
She termed Congress election manifesto as an ‘appeasement to the minorities’.
She also criticized Chief Minister Kumaraswamy for stating shortage of funds due to farm waiver loans, whenever MLAs ask money for development. Demanding the coalition government to present a white paper on state economy of Karnataka, she said the CM needs to show record on how many farmers’ loans have been waived and also give details of the banks to support his claim.
