Mangaluru, Nov 29: Condemning the gang-rape case of Thota Bengre, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath said that he has already discussed about it with higher officials of the police department and urged to take action at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters, Kamath said, "Today youth have become victims of drugs. If we do not curb drug menace, it is impossible to avoid such inhumane incidents in the city. I urge the police department to take strict action against drug peddlers,"
He further said that if the drug peddlers are dealt sternly, then there will be an end to drug mafia.”I have already discussed with the concerned department about actions to be taken in this regard,” he said.
Vedavyas Kamath also said that he will try to get a full-fledged police station sanctioned for the affected area.
The police have so far arrested 7 accused including three minors in connection to the case.
