Mangaluru, Nov 27: Four accused in the Bengre gang rape attempt case have been arrested by police on Tuesday, November 27. A special team of Panambur inspector Rafik K M and Mangaluru north sub division anti rowdy squad was formed to nab the suspects. All of them are residents of Bengre, Mangaluru.
The arrested have been identified as Prajwal Suvarna alias Prajwal (25), Arun alias Arun Ameen (26), Aditya Salian alias Adi (25) and Abdul Riaz alias Riaz alias Pitte (35). Three more accused are yet to be nabbed.
It may be recalled, according to a complaint filed by a woman, seven unidentified people allegedly tried to gang rape her at Bengre beach last week. The victim had filed a complaint on November 25, at Women’s police station in the city. The woman from Bantwal visited Bengre beach with a youth last week. A group of seven men approached the couple, thrashed the youth and tried to gang rape the woman.
The operation was conducted in the leadership of Mangaluru traffic sub division assistant police commissioner Rafik K M by Mangaluru women’s station police inspector Kalavathi, Panambur station PSI Umesh Kumar, Mangaluru north sub division anti rowdy squad officer ASI Mohammed, Kushala Maniyani, Vijay Kanchan, Sathish M, Sharan Kali and Panambur station officer and staff.
