Bengaluru, Nov 25: Recently the board of pre-university college education had given a shocker to the students by ordering that mobile phones should not be taken inside the classroom. However, now the government is doing all preparations to give a happy news to the students. The government is thinking of reducing the heavy weight of school bags which the school going children carry on their backs.
The central department of human resources, which has taken steps to curtail the weight of the school bags carried by children, has already sent a circular to all the state governments in this regard. In the circular the department has given guidelines. In addition, the central human resources department has also asked the state governments to send reports in this connection.
The state government has also decided to abide by the decision taken by the central government and is taking steps to implement the guidelines mentioned in the order. The government is all set to send an order in this regard for the government, private and government-aided schools.
Responding to the queries, Dr P C Jaffer, commissioner of public instruction said, "We are already conducting a study in this regard. We have also had discussions with the administrative boards of schools. Very soon the guidelines in this regard will be issued."
