Bengaluru, Nov 23: A person who killed two persons with support from his accomplices reportedly because they belonged to his rival gang, was arrested by the police personnel of Konanakunte station here within a few hours. Before arresting him however, they had to shoot at the frowdy sheeter who was determined to give them a skip.
The person arrested, identified as Manjunath (34), a rowdy sheeter in Hulimavu police station here, had reportedly killed his two rivals at Weavers Colony on Bannerghatta road here. The victims were Murugan (34) and Palani (30). They were murdered when they were on their way home from a bar together late night on Wednesday.
Both Palani and Murugan are from Tamil Nadu. Their families are living at Weavers Colony. The two had formed a gang which indulged in anti social activities. Manjunath, who was dominant in the area, felt challenged by the duo who often came across him. Manjunath and his associates waited for Murugan and Palani to come out of a bar on Wednesday night. The gang attacked the duo with weapons and killed them on the spot.
City deputy commissioner of police (south), Annnamalai, formed three teams to catch hold of the culprits. The team headed by assistant commissioner of polcie, T Mahadeva, working on reliable information, rushed to Anjanapura forest where the accused Manjunath was hiding. Reportedly he was planning to go to Tamil Nadu.
When the police rounded him up and ordered him to surrender, Manjunath attacked sub-inspector Subramani with a sword and injured him. The police fired two rounds at his legs and arrested him. Both the injured were taken to nearby hospital and treated. They are said to be out of danger.
The police, who have filed case against Manjunat are on the look out for his accomplices.
