Bengaluru, Nov 22: St Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM), Bengaluru, the oldest business school in Karnataka, will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee on a grand scale on November 27.

Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India will be the chief guest. Special guests of honour for the event will include H D Kumaraswamy, chief minister of Karnataka and Dr Peter Machado, archbishop of Bengaluru.

The Jesuit tradition of education in Bengaluru seeks to go beyond imparting knowledge to young minds. Therefore, when St Joseph’s Institute of Management celebrates its Golden Jubilee, it is celebrating fifty years of striving to inculcate the desire for academic excellence, to help in character formation, and to engender social concern in the young minds of the country.

SJIM started in 1968, under the name of St Joseph’s College of Business Administration, offering diploma courses in management for working professionals. Over time, the institute grew from strength to strength and now caters to over 300 students by offering a two-year full-time AICTE-approved post-graduate diploma in management (PGDM) equivalent to MBA at their new state-of-the-art campus just off MG Road. The institute formally changed its name to St Joseph’s Institute of Management in 2016.

Today, SJIM is ranked among the top 100 Indian business schools in the Government of India’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), one of only four in Bengaluru, it is located in the heart of Bengaluru’s central business district, recruits faculty from top business schools in India and abroad, produces world-class research, maintains high standards of teaching and an exceptional placement record, and engenders a global outlook in its students by leveraging its international collaborations. Therefore, this event marks a 50-year legacy of impactful and inclusive education in business management by the Jesuits in Bengaluru.
