Driver's carelessness, recklessness may be one of the reasons but in reality there are many others factors and authorities, departments are also involved.Main reason is the unplanned traffic system,in many parts of the city roads are not travel-worthy,filled with ponds and ditches, unethical system of construction of roads, allowing goods laden heavy vehicles, containers and tankers in the city limit, arrogant attitudes and approach of national highway authorities of India while constructing the highways etc etc.By constructing bypasses heavy vehicles, containers, tankers must not be allowed to ply in the city roads or else they should be given time to ply their vehicles especially during peak hours. In order to get these works get done all the local MLAs,MPs and elected representatives should join their hands in co-ordination with concerned authorities, departments and locals. In order to avert these types of incidents, accidents, traffic Flyovers, bridges, underpasses, bypasses must be built in all the major junctions.

    Irresponsible drivers..
Instead of this giant bullet tankers, small bullet tankers should be used for transport...
Loss can be reduced in case of fatal accidents

Most of the people who have commented over here are reckless drivers/riders themselves.

I have commented a lot of time about the pathetic conditions of our roads. We have these type of hazardous roads because we people don't care. we people don't demand such things from our politicians. we only want beef ban or some temple to be constructed. Whenever something happens we just look up, get enraged and then forget.

Highway patrol non existent, most of the time conductors made to drive, no sense of lane discipline, reckless driving, sitting on the wheels of a heavy truck or bus feeling invincible, what else can we expect.

The police at night are only bothered about drunk driving and not rash driving

Karnataka is full of only gas. One too many instances of gas tankers turning turtle too often. Now Modi will supply eco-friendly CNG safely through pipeline.

Actually all hazardous tankers should be allowed to travel only between 10 PM to 5 AM to avoid any accidents to public.

Many years ago when the octroi system existed, Highways used to pass through the cities so that the city corporations could garner some revenue. Nowadays these things are abolished.
At many places such as sakleshpur, Hubli Dharwad, channarayapatna, Navalgund etc. , the NHAI has constructed bypass roads, but it is unfortunate that in a major city like mangalore all the trucks pass through the city with their hazardous cargo. People only want to move fast and they put pressure on the the government for flyover, underpass etc. There is no long term vision.
A bypass road that connects the Industrial zone of panambur to the the major highways skipping the city is the only solution. Or mark my words there will be a major catastrophe soon.

Please think of having a bypass road outside the city instead of the highway passing through heavily populated areas inside mangalore. Even Hubli Dharwad, Gadag, Sakleshpur etc.

I have noticed that most of the Tanker drivers are very young . And they work over time to get more salary. Who is to control them ? Police must check drivers licence and Insurance certificate.
