Mangaluru, Nov 20: The birth anniversary of the Prophet Mohammed is being celebrated today in the form of Milad-un-Nabi or Eid Milad. The Prophet, besides working to bring peace to the society, had also established a government and administrative system.

Prophet had fought against vested interests and had questioned certain deeply embedded traditional beliefs and observations. He also established social justice.

On this occasion, Milad-un-Nabi gatherings are organized where discussions are held about the teachings of the Prophet and his birthday is celebrated. People also hold night-long prayer meetings, marches and processions, Sandal rites over symbolic footprints of the Prophet, decoration with festive banners and buntings etc are arranged. Community feast is also arranged at mosques and other buildings.

Muslims organized prayer meetings and greeted each other on this occasion in the city and elsewhere.

    It's a tragedy that a purely Un- Islamic tradition is given the name of Islamic celebration and roads are blocked in the name of processions and time and energy is wasted on unnecessary things.

    The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessing of Allah be Him) himself has told that- Kullu bid'athun zalala wa kullu zalaalathun finnar. (Every innovation in religion is an aberration (gumraahi) and every aberration will lead you towards the hell fire).

    This birthday celebration is clearly an innovation in the religion as neither Prophet Muhammad ( PBUH) nor his companions celebrated the birthday. Now the most astonishing thing is that the day they celebrate as the Birth day is also coinciding with the day of Death of Prophet Muhammad as well.

    Further, in every Eid of Islam, there is always a special prayer and the day of Eid and Eid is always followed by Charity and fasting. We have nothing like this in Eid Milad. This will substantiate that Eid Milad is purely an innovation in the religion of Islam and there is no relation between Eid Milad and Islam.

    You deserve respect for saying wrong for what is wrong. I was shocked to see such processions in Manipura Shankarpura area too. It felt imposing on participants and highly unislamic as if to make a display . Maybe scholars could guide and show the path to them. What wud happen if they take out such processions in the gulf?

    @GM Hegde,

    This is another tragedy that these people are misguided by some namesake scholars only. These scholars believe only in symbolic show of love towards the Prophet Muhammed (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him) and are going exactly against the teachings of our beloved Prophet when it comes to practicing the teachings of our beloved Prophet.

    I totally agree with you. now a days there is no relation between theory & practical. people use these things for preaching only & doesn't follow in their real life.

    @Habibi,

    I am sorry, I did not go through the link you have suggested. But I think I know what you are referring to.
    Whoever may be the scholar, we will not obey his fatwa as long as he proves his fatwa from the Quran or Authentic Hadith and by the practices of the Companions of our beloved Prophet Mohammed (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him).

    If you are following a scholar without following the teachings of our beloved Prophet, then, I am sorry to say that you behave like the current day Bhakts

    Nawaz,

    it is your internal problem. don't compare it with bhakts. they are far better than what you have referred. don't mix politics with religion. also don't use religion only for preaching but also use it in day to day life then this kind of comparison wont arise.

    @Habibi,

    Now you are acting like a hardcore bhakth who always tag their opponents as anti nationals when they cannot give answers rationally to the questions posed to them.

    By the way, you seem to be the follower of those people who were permanently barred from entering into Saudi Arabia for celebrating Eid Milad in the holy city of Makkah. Remember that incident?

    Nawaz...On what basis do you mentioned..birth day of prophet and death date is one and the same. People are still confused..as nobody knows actual date...declaring different dates. Please dont falsify things...which do not have full proof.

    @Tell the truth,

    There are doubts on the Birth date of our beloved Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him). But you take it as 12th of Rabi ul Awwal. And there is no doubt on the date of Death of our beloved Prophet, which is 12th of Rabi ul Awwal. That means you celebrate on the date of Death of our beloved Prophet.

    Further, as you said yourself that nobody knows the actual date, how can you celebrate on a particular date?

    thousif,

    first of all we are not following 100% what told in holy books. but we are highlighting those things when it favour us & if it is not, then we keep quiet. during tipu jayanthi we didn't realise this. also note that at present society it is very difficult to follow the entire thing preached in the holy books. there is no use in debate.
