Mangaluru, Nov 20: The Karnataka coast received good rainfall on Monday November 19. Many areas received rain during the evening while the city got drizzle in the early morning. A few areas in the city got light showers even in the afternoon.
Morning drizzle was reported from Kotekar, Beeri, Talapady and surrounding areas. The other places which got rainfall happen to be Sullia, Puttur, and Haleyangady. Mulky got heavy rain for some time. In Bellare, along with moderate rain, thunder and lightning were experienced. Vittal, Savanur, Mundoor, Narimogaru and nearby areas got heavy rain with thunder and lightning. Bantwal reported light drizzle while Kadaba experienced normal rainfall.
In Udupi district, Udupi, Karkala and several places got rain. Karkala got light rain with thunder, while Bajegoli and Hosmaru got good rainfall. Padubidri and Kollur received some rain.
Lightning struck a house belonging to Dayananda Gowda in Murattapalke within Belalu village in Beltangady taluk on the night of Sunday, inflicting heavy damage to walls and electrical wiring. A calf inside the cattle shed of the family died due to lightning. Mud in the backside of the house suffered landslide. The family members had a providential escape as they were in front of the house at the time.
Lightning also damaged CCTV camera, two inverters, 20 LED bulbs and fans in Lord Mahalingeshwara temple office at Basrur near Kundapur.
