Kundapur, Nov 19: Where there is a will there is a way. Kumbhashi resident Prema Ganesh Poojary has shown that determination and motivation are important for greater achievements in life.

As Prema was born and brought up in the family of farming, her love for cultivation did not leave her even after marriage. Her inclination towards cultivation of jasmine at her home kept on reminding her. As there was scarcity of space in the house of her husband, she looked at the empty space on the terrace. She bought more than 100 pots, mixed soil and organic manure in them, brought jasmine saplings from her mother's house and planted them in the pots.

She watered them twice in a day. She took good care of the plants. The fragrance of Jasmine could be felt in a year.

Jasmine plants have flowers blossoming on them now. She gets between two thousand and three thousand flowers from them at a time. She gets good price for them. The cultivation has become a source of additional income for the family.

Jasmine cultivation involves physical activity and makes a person lively. The curiosity to get up early in the mornings and give flowers to the market is inspiring. The fragrance of jasmine has spread from her parent’s house to her husband's house. She also grows jasmine saplings and sells them.

Her husband Ganesh Poojary, children Pratham and Pranav and members of the family cooperate with her. She says that the cultivation brings her joy. She gets up to ten thousand flowers during cultivation season. She tells her friends to start the cultivation at their terraces.

As she uses organic manure, she does not have problems of pests. She also gets quality flowers. As she mixes new soil and manure every year, the plants grow with new branches.

Prema is a member of Kshetra Dharmasthala Kumbhashi Okkoota, Raghavendra self help group. Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade has commended her endeavours. Prema says that the suggestions by Dharmasthala project officials have helped her to succeed.

Her story of success is a model for those who leave land worth several acres barren.
