Mangaluru: Eid-milad holiday changed to November 20: U T Khader

Mangaluru, Nov 18: District-in-charge minister U T Khader on Sunday said that November 20 will be declared as public holiday on the occasion of Eid-Milad in Dakshina Kannada.

Though public holiday has been already declared on November 21, in Dakshina Kannada it will be celebrated on November 20.

"I have written to the chief minister and the chief secretary to consider November 20 instead of November 21 as public holiday.

“We have requested all schools and government offices to function as usual on November 21,” he said adding that government order will be out on Monday.

    Holiday for Eid Milad is not necessary.
    It will only cause inconvenience to the public.
    We have only two festivals which were celebrated by Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) - Eid Al Fitr at the end of Ramadan and Bakrid which comes during Haj.
    Eid Milad was started some 600 years after the Hijrah by one ruler in Mosul (Iraq) .

    Plz I do request not to announce the holiday on 20th Nov because the e
    MANGALORE university exams for us are going on if the holiday is postponed we will face heavy problem as we r stating in hostels . So i kindly request not to announce the holiday on 20th

    Another hypocritical request by Kader. Consider all faculties before putting up such request. Educational institutions exam schedule should be given high priority.

    First of all i am not against any religious faith or any religion practice followed by people.. In India we have maximum number of bank holidays and public holidays. Again in between changing the date of holidays and declaring of holidays for the death of politicians should curbed.
    Already bank Insurance and other financial institution has closed on 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month in addition to Sundays. These changing date is also effect the examination schedules of students in school college and tour plans of many families.

    LOL. govt holiday has already been declared on 21 November. what is the need to change this in Dakshina Kannada and messing up the holiday plan. Jai Ho India.

    It's Better to Declare the Holiday on 21 only... Because Mangalore university level semester examinations are going on to the degree students... If The date of examination is postponed it may affect on the results of the students... Please do consider this...
