Udupi, Nov 16: MP Shobha Karandlaje has said that there are no discussions on changing BJP state president. “The information is false and such news is being spread with an intention to destabilize the party.”
She was speaking to news reporters during her visit to the office of deputy commissioner of Udupi on November 16.
“There are preparations for Lok Sabha elections in the state. No discussions were held regarding change of state president so far. I do not understand who spreads such rumours,” she said.
“Sand problem is becoming acute in Udupi. The deputy commissioner and the state government should take immediate action. Sand needs to be supplied for housing projects of the government. Necessary sand is not available for Ashraya project and Basava housing projects. The state government is adopting go slow tactics in this connection. Election code of conduct will be enforced again in January/February 2019. Sand mining should be started under the leadership of assistant commissioner if district administration is not able to handle it,” she said.
“There are efforts to silence cries of people for development. Government should answer them. Suicides of farmers are continuing. Loan waiver has stopped after announcements. The state government is not pro people. The coalition government has died soon after it was born. People have become poor due to internal fights between JD(S) and Congress. The government is targeting only opposition leaders. Reddy is fighting in the court for justice.”
Reacting to the arrest of former minister Janardhan Reddy, “We do not justify Janardhan Reddy. We do not have to justify him. But why was he arrested in a hurry? It appears on the surface that the coalition is into revenge politics. It appears what Janardhan Reddy is saying is true,” she said.
Speaking on Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, she said that people in the country want Ram Mandir to be constructed. “I am confident that a decision can be taken under the leadership of Modi. Supreme Court could have sorted it out. The court should not be slow in this connection. Supreme Court has decided historical cases. The court should respond to the feelings of devotees. I do not know why the matter gets delayed.”
“RSS has planned a huge conference in the country. The union government will take a suitable decision.”
Regarding entry of women to Sabarimala temple, she said that Trupthi Desai has landed in Cochin airport. “Her style does not look like that of a devotee. She has come to Kerala looking for publicity and not as a devotee of Ayyappa. She has come without Irumudi and fasting. The Supreme Court has not said that one can come to Sabarimala without Irumudi and fasting. There are people insulting Hindu religion in the country. We have tolerated it for the past several years. The matter of temples should be left to devotees and priests. Supreme Court should respect the feelings of devotees,” she said.
Speaking about last election results, she said that Congress candidate has won in Jamakhandi due to sympathy votes of his father. “BJP had no presence in Ramanagar and Mandya. People have accepted BJP.”
“SEZ problem affects the people of the entire country. The decision should be taken considering all the people in the country. As I had 20 days foreign tour, I could not take part in main discussion. We will discuss with the union government regarding relaxing SEZ policy,” she assured.
We are trying to get ESI hospital approved for Udupi district. The deputy commissioners of Udupi and Chikkamagalur are preparing for it. Santhosh Gangwir has had discussions about it but we do not have the details till now. The government is not showing any initiative,” she added.
“I do not know if I will be the candidate for next Lok Sabha elections. I am bound by the decision of the party. I will support any BJP candidate. Our intention is to make BJP win,” she said.
